As a geologist and a photographer, I'm torn between looking at this from an earth science perspective and an artistic perspective. The geologist in me knows that you probably shot this around Phoenixville, probably near the old Phoenix Iron Works, were there is a prominent shear cliff. If that is the location, this rock formation is the Stockton Sandstone which is a prolific aquifer and is roughly 200 to 250 million years old. I love the dark green moss and how it grows on and highlights the bedding planes of the rock and contrasts with its dark reddish brown color, which is due to the high iron content in the rock and the mineral orthoclase feldspar. Now that I thoroughly bored you with nauseating geo-speak, I'll sum up the photo in one simple phrase: It Rocks!
